Stars That Shine
Empower. Educate. Lead
About Us
Stars That Shine is a 501(c)(3) West Virginia nonprofit dedicated to empowering, educating, and leading young women toward a brighter future. Serving the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and beyond, we provide empowerment workshops, mentorship, academic support, leadership training, and life-changing opportunities to help girls overcome barriers and reach their full potential.

In addition to our empowerment, education, and leadership programs, we are committed to addressing period poverty. Through our Girls United PERIOD Project, we are providing local schools and communities with access to free period products to ensure no girl misses school due to lack of essential supplies.

Joining Our STARS
Middle and high school girls have the opportunity to become a STAR, giving them access to empowering programs that provide mentorship, support, and guidance during one of the most crucial stages of their lives. Through our programs, girls gain the confidence, leadership skills, and resources they need to become the bright, shining leaders of tomorrow.

At Stars That Shine, we help girls break barriers and rewrite their stories-transforming potential into purpose. Instead of becoming another statistic, our girls grow into empowered, educated, and driven young women who shine brightly in their schools, communities, and futures.

Our Commitment to Ending Period Poverty
We are committed to taking action in the fight against period poverty in West Virginia and beyond. Through our Girls United PERIOD project, we provide free period products to schools, local communities, and girls in need. Our goal is simple — to ensure that no girl has to miss school or opportunities because of her period. By breaking the stigma and increasing access, we’re helping girls show up confidently every day — empowered, supported, and ready to shine.
Who Do We Serve?
Stars That Shine serves middle and high school girls, as well as college/trade school students seeking opportunities to intern, mentor, or participate in academic and career enrichment programs. Our outreach also includes schools across the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, along with local communities in need of access to free period products through our Period Project initiative.
